Remedial Soft Tissue Therapy

Remedial Massage is the assessment and treatment of injuries and musculo-skeletal conditions. It is a collective term that encompasses the use of a wide range of techniques used to meet the needs of the presented condition(s). Remedial massage is considered to be the most effective way of treating all types of soft tissue injuries and other related conditions. These include, Soft Tissue Release (STR), Myofascial Release (MR), Deep-Tissue Massage, Postural Taping and Kinesiology Taping, Sports Massage, Neuromuscular (trigger-point) Therapy and Muscular Energy Technique (MET).

Sports Massage

Sports massage is the most effective form of soft tissue rehabilitation therapy as it boosts the  healing process and helps to prevent re-injury. Without it, full recovery from injury is greatly compromised.

Sports massage is a deeper type of massage that works more specifically with sporting injuries and other soft tissue conditions.

Sports massage main aims: Reduce muscle tension, Increase range of motion, Decrease muscle stiffness and soreness after exercise, Help to break down scar tissue, promote recovery by increasing blood circulation, Improve tissue elasticity, Help prevent injuries when massage is received regularly.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep-Tissue Massage concentrates on the deeper layers of muscle and fascia in the body. It uses many of the methods associated with the techniques offered by remedial massage applying a stronger and deeper pressure. Deep tissue massage is often used with more chronic conditions caused by over-use, and though very effective can at times create some discomfort.

Therapeutic Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage helps reduce the build up of stress and tension in the body after a hard day / weeks work. Long sweeping strokes, kneading and gentle manipulation of the muscles are some of the techniques applied using a pressure that suits your needs.  As well as a great way to relax the muscles of the body, it also stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system taking your mind and body from a place of stress to a place of calmness increasing relaxation, sleep and recovery from daily life.

Kinesiotaping

Kinesiology tape is a thin, stretchy, elastic cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive. Therapeutic kinesiology tape that can benefit a wide variety of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, plus inflammatory conditions.

I  like to use Rock Tape. Rock Tape microscopically lifts the skin away from the muscle and fascia below, which decompresses the area and promotes blood flow.  It is  is made from 97% cotton and 3% nylon. The adhesive is a hypo-allergenic, acrylic-based and contains no latex.
